Linux Operating System for Developers

A Linux operating system is quite different from a Windows operating system. They run off of different open-source operating systems such as Fedora and many more. Although they are not popular among regular users, many developers feel that a Linux laptop can be seen as a better option over a windows laptop. Linux can also be a dual-booted system that can coincide with windows.

Why is Linux Better Than Windows

Developers like to compare Linux and windows to see where Windows falls short. A huge reason why Linux can become a favorite for developers is that the system is compared in durability and speed. Linux has been proven to run faster and smoother than windows. This can cause Linux to be looked at as more favorable. Windows has been known to run fast at the beginning but over time it slows down until replaced. Linux can be compared to the more modern version of windows making it easier to keep up with times.

Another thing that makes Linux more popular than Windows is that the security features in Linux are more desirable. Although it seems as though Linux security is quite simple, it is rather hard for the security of this system to be compromised. The high-tech security on the Linux operating system is very desirable to many users. Linux allows its users the ability to fix their and security malfunctions since the system is open-sourced. This makes the operating system extremely user-friendly and easy for consumers to rely less on the manufacturer's developers.

Windows oftentimes make the operating system too complicated for their users to understand but not complicated enough for experienced hackers. When hackers attack a Windows operating system then they will have full admin over the system meaning that the operating system will completely shut down or be corrupt. This makes it quite impossible to regain access to their operating system without the help of someone who is experienced in Microsoft, to replace the system.

Why is Linux better for developers?

When developers are looking for a good operating system they should understand that Linux is very flexible. This can be great for new developers. The open-source allows the operating to be programmed easier and goes back to what was previously stated if the operating system experiences corruption it is easy for users to do maintenance on the system instead of needing more advanced expertise.

Also, Linux requires fewer tools and hardware making it easy to install. Linux can be customized to the users' wants and needs without waiting for any updates to occur. With the flexibility of the operating system, users can install Linux software on older operating systems with no problems. The older operating system will work just as well as a new system.

Can You Buy a laptop with Linux On it?

The answer is yes. You can buy a laptop with Linux on it. It might be better as a new developer that you get a laptop that has Linux already installed to be sure that it is properly installed and supported. A good thing to look for when trying to find a laptop with Linux installed is a laptop that says the developer's edition. Some laptops also state that Linux is included which will help in deciding which is the best laptop for your needs.

Can any computer run Linux?

Although this topic was touched on briefly above it may be best to go into better detail so that you can gain more information and better understanding. Linux operating systems can be run on many laptops, but it should be noted that some don't run well with Linux operating systems. So if you are looking to personally install Linux on a computer then it may be best to buy in-store rather than online.

It is better to go into a store to get a hands-on feel of the laptop that you are buying. You can ask questions and look at key features for a good developer laptop choice. It is easy for laptops to be listed online with misinformation, that may not be compatible with the Linux operating system.

It may be best to test Linux on a laptop that you already own to see if the operating system is compatible with a laptop that you are comfortable with. However, If you have compatibility issues it is easy to uninstall Linux from your laptop, and you can rule out that laptop version and model.

Also, there is a compatibility list that might be a bit of help in understanding which computers are compatible with Linux. Ubuntu compatibility list has a broken-down list of models and versions of laptops that can be seen as compatible or non-compatible with Linux software. It's best that you make sure to do your research before you buy a computer that might be useless for your personal needs.

Overall There are many reasons that Developers can be quite favorable of Linux Operating System. It is an open-sourced operating system that would be considered a modern version of the Windows operating system. Also, Linux has been proven to run smoother and faster than Windows, and because users can personalize Linux to their liking, developers may see the ease of use in a Linux operating system.

Another good thing about the Linux Operating system is that the security looks quite system but can actually be very difficult to compromise. The reason is that it is open-sourced allowing users to have the ability to fix problems on their own which is not like the Windows operating system. Lastly, Linux has the ability to work dual-boot with other operating systems and has little hardware.
